FW: Habit Tracking Apps, Do They Work?

It’s the middle of March and it’s time to check-in and be honest, how are we keeping up with our New Year’s resolutions and goals?

At the beginning of the year, we joined millions of Americans in trying to live a healthier more productive lifestyle and came across this article from Vox.com on habit-tracking apps. Have you been using apps to keep you accountable? It seems like we’ve all become dependent on technology to keep us on track. A flip of the wrist to check our step count, a banner notification to remind us to drink water, and adding our accomplishments to public profiles so everyone can see our progress. But are these apps really helping us alter our behavior patterns? When it comes to habit formation most people fit into one of four tendencies: upholders, obligers, questioners, and rebels. Understanding these tendencies and choosing the right apps is half the battle, in the end we still have to do the work.
