Carr Workplaces Guru Guides: Rosslyn

Guru Guides provides a local take by our staff on their favorite places to eat, relax and explore in the neighborhoods where our centers are located. Maybe it’s a favorite happy hour spot, a little-known park to sit and reflect or a hole in the wall heaven for foodies, these guides are curated by Carr Workplaces’ staff, your eyes and ears to the street.

This week we’re talking with the staff at our Rosslyn center in Northern Virginia, which is a stone’s throw from both Downtown DC and Georgetown. Rosslyn is unique in that it has a downtown business feel but you are extremely close to nature. Assistant GM Jennifer Gazda loves that proximity, as well as the direct access to a variety of parks and running trails — there are around 10 parks and numerous trails for walking and biking within just a few minutes of our coworking location. “As soon as you step out of our center you can literally start going for a run or a bike ride on a number of paths that hug the Potomac River. It’s gorgeous,” Jenn says.

Not only does Rosslyn hold a variety of green spaces for enjoying nature but being just across the Key Bridge from DC, Rosslyn also helps showcase the Nation’s monuments and historical landmarks. Arlington National Cemetery is a 5 minute car ride or a single Metro stop away from our offices. The massive sobering tribute to America’s war dead is a fascinating and reflective walk through the country’s history.

To properly get a bird’s eye view of Washington’s monumental sights it’s imperative that you visit The View of DC, located around the corner from our Rosslyn center and which has stunning 360 degree views of the nation’s capital and an impressive champagne bar.

Should you be in the DC area in early September and are a music-lover, check out Rosslyn’s Jazz Fest. The full-day event, which has been running for nearly 30 years, features Grammy-winning acts and takes place in Gateway Park, a five minute walk from our coworking center.

Another can’t miss rec from the team at our Rosslyn location is the Wednesday farmer’s market, a mere two-minute stroll from our offices. “Farmer’s market” doesn’t do justice to what is really an outdoor foodie heaven. There are the local organic farms selling a variety of veggies, fruits and baked goods but then there is an artisan goat cheese seller, a Hawaiian rice ball purveyor (see yumminess pictured below), and an Ethiopian food stall, among other epicurean treats.

On the topic of food we could write about Rosslyn for days because, truly, it’s a mini mecca for any gastronomist. The food truck scene a block from our center is fierce with the taco specialist, El Chilango, being considered a semi-secret gem by area tacoficionados.

Three blocks from our offices sits Barley Mac which pairs innovative twists on American comfort foods with a robust selection of whiskey and bourbon. Pictured below are their pork belly and Vermont cheddar croquettes.

Looking to kick back after a long day at the office? Go to the Continental’s beer garden and sip under the stars, just around the corner from, you guessed it, Carr Workplaces Rosslyn.

If you need a place to stay in Rosslyn, you could do much worse than the Le Meridien, not even a full block from our center. With monument and Potomac River views, it combines a boutique hotel feel while having all the amenities of a much larger hospitality establishment.

If you’re in our hood, please pay us a visit. We’d love for you to experience Rosslyn’s charms as well as the professionalism and support provided at Carr Workplaces.
