Why Indiana?

The Midwestern United States is an increasingly popular place for companies to do business. While more than 23% of the total U.S. workforce lives in the Midwest, it’s also one of the largest consumer markets in the nation, providing businesses like yours with access to over 50 million potential customers.

Many businesses also want to operate in close proximity to universities and colleges to be able to tap into top talent and collaborate with the brightest minds in academia.

Indiana is home to more than 60 colleges and universities, including Purdue University, which is ranked among the top 15 public land-grant universities in the United States.

The cost of living in the Midwest is lower than in other regions of the country, which means salaries can go farther, making it an attractive locale for recruitment and hiring. For businesses, operational costs also tend to be lower in the Midwest when compared with other parts of the country.

Millennials (born between 1981 and 2000) are migrating to the Midwest for its lower cost of living. Millennials are the largest generational segment of the U.S. population and currently account for 30% of all U.S. retail spending. The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics estimates that by 2030 Millennials will make up 75% of the workforce.

With all of the above in mind, we sought to bring our high-end, community-building approach to coworking to Indiana. We chose three distinctly different locations for our coworking centers, including our first ever university campus-based Carr Workplaces location, Carr Workplaces Convergence.

Carr Workplaces Convergence Center in West Lafayette

In January of 2020, we opened our very first coworking center in the state of Indiana, Carr Workplaces Convergence. Our Convergence location is situated within the Convergence Center for Innovation and Collaboration in Purdue University’s Discovery Park District in West Lafayette, Ind.

Purdue’s Discovery Park District is a $1 billion-plus mixed use development that includes office and coworking space, retail shops, restaurants, housing, green space, and nearby trails. This one-of-a-kind community is designed to foster innovation, collaboration, and creativity.

Situated on the west side of the Purdue University campus, our Convergence location includes over 20,000 square feet of private offices and drop-in workspace and meeting rooms that are available for university students and faculty to use for virtual classes and other activities.

Located minutes from the Purdue University campus, as a Carr Workplaces Convergence client, you’ll be in close proximity to Indiana’s brightest students, accomplished faculty, and research centers.
