Client Highlight: Kiersten Todt

March is Women’s History Month and Carr Workplaces has some history making clients you should get to know.

Meet Kiersten E. Todt, President and Managing Partner of Liberty Group Ventures, a risk management consulting firm that applies the principles of national security to solve client problems. Kiersten advises senior executives and Boards on cyber risk management, including the development and execution of tabletop exercises and relevant senior-level education and training programs. We’ve been lucky to have Kiersten as a Carr Workplaces Clarendon member since we first opened in 2013.

What does it mean to be a successful woman in business?

Being a successful woman means staying true to yourself, the ability to persevere, identifying what is important to you and finding the balance that works for you – not being influenced by other people’s vision of what you should or shouldn’t do or what balance looks like to someone else. Women need to be able to support one another and be models for each other.

What tip(s) would you give to other women thinking about going out on their own?

Identify what you do well and what you don’t enjoy doing in management. One of the best traits to possess for going out on your own is multi-tasking.  At any given time, a business owner has three balls in the air – administration of the business, serving current clients, and identifying new clients. Before you go out on your own, I recommend establishing one or two foundation clients so you have a certain stream of income from Day 1. I highly recommend going out on your own if you have the interest!

 

What’s your favorite thing about working at Carr Workplaces? 

The Carr Workplaces staff – we’ve been through several staffing changes in Clarendon and everyone who comes in to support the office and make it work has been tremendous!  LGV feels fortunate to be a part of the Carr team in Clarendon from the beginning – a fun fact about LGV is that we were the first company to bring whiteboard paint into the office.
